I think more bipartisanship is needed in America. I have no problems with many issues on the left and agree with some of them also. I think Bush is doing a good job but there needs to be more working together, rather than bashing.

I am a member of the Green Party, and I oppose gun control and am pro gay rights. I'd like to see early abortions available so that late-term abortions are not necessary. And I do hate Bush and Cheney as well.
My dilemma has been that as a member of the green party, I want to see green party candidates win, but the two-party system and lack of runoff voting keeps people from really voting their conscience. I think that with instant runoff voting, we'd see a lot more people honestly voting for what they want, and this can only be beneficial for us all. I also think that the "cross-over" you mention above would be abundant, as more parties crop up to support a larger variety of views.

90% of the Liberals and staunch Democrats who spew regularly here on YA would puke if they read a typical Blue Dog Democrat's positions on the issues. If you didn't tell them they're Democrats they'd swear they were listening to someone like John McCain.
Look at what the liberal extremists in the Democratic party did to Joe Lieberman, over ONE issue (the Iraq war).
To make a statement calling for an open mind on the issues and then update it with a tired declaration of hatred for Bush and Cheney is too cute by half.
The first step is to stop the knee-jerk hatred of "the other side". Then maybe you can focus and listen to what they're saying.

I'm a Republican, and I oppose gun control, late term abortions, and I am pro gay rights. I am heavily in favor of Americans voting for issues rather than parties. People need to research political candidates rather than watching TV ads and listening to the talking heads on the news to make their voting decisions.

Wahoo for you. You've got some ideals. So now you think that everyone has to agree with YOU.
With the possible exception of late term abortion ban (the only humane way to be, btw), everything else you have listed, including your Bush bashing, is liberal. I have more in common with blue dog Democrats, as a Republican, than you do, as a democrat.

You don't need to categorize yourself. You sound like a normal American. Those boundaries were pre-2006 mid term elections. It's a whole new day. People are free to be whatever they want and still be accepted. How about a Demreplibecon?

Good question. I think America is getting tired of totally partisan politics. I know I am.
