Well I agree it's healthy, but that's not your question so I'll try to give you some answers.
Being around people is good. Not like you can do it in public.
Take up hobbies that take a lot of focus and concentration.
Do more physical activity.
Avoid things that turn you on.
(But at some point you're going to want to desensitize yourself to the things that turn you on so that they don't excite you anymore. Otherwise just the suggestion of the stuff that turns you on will be enough to do it for you.)
Do meditation exercises.
Also, don't make it such a big deal that you beat yourself up if you don't manage to stop completely. That will just raise your anxiety levels. And that will make it very difficult to stop.
Well that's about all I got. Now please listen for a sec... Although there are people who don't masturbate, the majority of people do... even if they say they don't. It's normal and most people have no reason to stop. I can't imagine what your reasons are for wanting to stop, but I strongly encourage you to find someone you feel comfortable talking to about this who won't judge you either way. Then you can talk about it a bit before making your decision.
Good luck!

Organised religions, hypocrisy, manipulation must be stopped... not masturbation!
Masturbation Frequency:
http://www.jackinworld.com/misc/faqtree1.html#mastfreq
How often does the average male masturbate?
It depends on a lot of factors, the most important being age. For an 18-year-old male, a rough average is once a day or so. This is slightly higher for younger teenagers — maybe 10 or 12 times a week, and slightly lower for older people. You might be surprised by how often adult men masturbate — even happily married men.
I think I'm addicted to masturbation. Is that possible?
It is, although many, many people think they're addicted when they're really just doing what comes naturally. For more on this topic, read the article Is Masturbation Addictive?(http://www.jackinworld.com/library/articles/addict.html).
How can I masturbate less often, or quit altogether?
It's tough; it takes a lot of will power. It can be done, especially if you're driven by very strong religious feelings. However, JackinWorld's position is that it's not worth it. We think you should enjoy the harmless pleasures your body can provide.

No reason to stop, it is a healthy activity. If you are obsessive about masterbation, then you should just force yourself to quit cold turkey for a while, or restrict yourself to maybe once a day, when you go to bed or take your morning shower.

You might just talk to a pastor or ask this question in the religious category. The only way I know to stop is to pray and have faith, but I don't know if you're religious or not so I won't go into it.

I think humans can decide to stop. It requires willpower of course. An easier way is to find a partner.

Run, walk, work out, read, meditate, pray.
But it's not sinful so why are you asking. Jim Dobson, from Focus on the Family, has even said it is ok as long as you don't have lustful thoughts about women.

i wonder why you would want to stop...but i would imagine that if you don't want to masturbate, don't do it. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. just don't touch. seriously, no one is making you touch yourself, you just do. so stop. the problem now, of course, is how to prevent getting turned on, so to speak. i would think it's harder not to get excited if you're a guy, though, so good luck(if you're a guy)!

Why would you want to stop? It's normal. It's healthy. People need to stop being so uptight about stupid things.
