If there are parts that you really don't like for whatever reason, why not avoid them? Sure they may be tradition, but if it makes your holiday more peaceful and enjoyable without them, wouldn't it be worth a try? Then you could have something to make a new tradition with instead of something to dread each year.

The problem is when your ticked off and not permitted things the only thing you can get away with is complaining.

Like I can complain about my mother's boyfriend,.. but there is nothing I can do without makeing things worse and feeling disappointed. And when it comes to something that EVERYONE else is happy about,.. it is devestating when you can't accomplish what is normal. So people get to be a Grinch from attempt and failure,.. attempt and failure.

If you don't want someone to be a grinch any more YOU HAVE TO HELP THEM and on a scedual with added bonus help at random from others without the expectation of that repeating.

Plus it takes longer to recover from something like this then the time you've been in misery,.. findings/studies have found.

You need a walk a decade in someone's shoes without expecting things to ever change back to normal to understand people in that "Grinch" situation. Now go watch Monster House to learn a little something.
