Islam makes no provisions for accepting any non- Muslims in their world. Simple as that.

First of all you cannot say that Koran makes Muslims unable to get along with Christians. If you take the Bible in literal terms you can get the same interpretation
Second, Muslims are not persecuting Christians. If what you are referring to is events like 911 then you are talking about the very minority of the Muslim community, extremists. If you want real information about this you are going to have to do some searching on your own. But, what is important to understand in the the US and western governments support governments who are willing to give into their demands.
Also in the Koran, is the belief that Muslims should live together under Islamic law also know as Sharia Law. While the western governments are pushing democracies in places live the middle east, many Muslims in those countries are pushing back, wanting to get rid of western influence.
I am in no way an expert and what I have said here barely covers the situation. The problems between the middle east and the west have existed for a long time and it is going to be interesting where their relationship goes in the future.

The "main cause" is the same one they use for the things they(the muslims) are doing to lash out at every other ppl group currently in it's sites. The Main Cause to the violence is due to the fact that the muslims PRIDE themselves in the "art" of blaming everyone else for their own problems (laziness and a very backward education system, not to mention the sick desire to KILL everyone who has a different belief system than their own.
Simply put...For the most part.....They are just mean,misguided people who enjoy killing ....anybody!

Muslims are taught from the Koran that all non-believers (incuding Christians) must be converted to Islam or killed.
So - the main cause is pretty simple, really -- they hate everything non-Muslim.
