You could send flowers-a pretty Christmas arrangement.
A gift cert. to a book store is a good idea too.

Funny how the younger grade teachers always get piled with gifts.

As the kids get older, the gifts get meager....yet, the "children" are ten times more difficult in their teens, I would say.

Oh, I'm a high school math teacher...in 5 years, I've gotten about three cards from my combined total of 500+ students I have seen in my classes over that time period.

I will say though....a thoughtful card is forever. I have kept all three of them!

Beyond that - perhaps a gift card to a book store or a teacher supply store.

All I was saying above was stay involved with your children's education through the whole 12 years!

I'm a fourth grade teacher. I get tired of getting candy because I get so much of it. I am tired of lotions, candles, and apple stuff. I would LOVE it if my students would all go in together and get me a gift card to Barnes and Noble or Target so I could buy a book of my choice to read and relax with. That may be hard to set up though if your child's class doesn't have a homeroom mother. You would want to be able to get in touch with all the parents to see if they wanted to pitch in. If your child's class has 20 students each student could pitch in 1$ and then the teacher would have enough for a good book.

I think some hand cream/sanitizer from Bath and Body Works is a good idea...a small fruit basket, box of chocolate, a scarf, an ornament for the tree, a book, a 2007 calendar, pen set, a dry cleaning gift certificate...it really depends on how much you are able to spend...if money is not an object, a gift certificate for a massage would be awesome.

These are gifts that I've received over the years and have really appreciated them. However, a nice card is just as appreciated.

Since your a student, get them something small and simple. A gift certificate to Wal-mart or Target, or a nice hand moisturizer from Bath & Body Works, homemade cookies in a pretty basket, or a cute Christmas ornament (if their Christians). There's lots of cute ideas for teachers and they'll feel appricated!

anything not apple based, except an apple computer, lol, seriously, maybe a gift card, if there are any issues with teachers accepting gifts, take in school supplies. My sister gave a box of paper from an office supply store and the teacher was totally happy, my fiance is a substitute teacher, she says, an electric pencil sharpener, good quality white board markers, and big magnets to hold up charts on white boards.

Something I did for my daughter's teacher and the T.A. is to make a little gift mug. I go to dollar stores and buy really nice coffee mugs, a couple of boxes of flavored tea bags a bag of peppermints, colored cellophane and curly ribbon. When I got home I divided up the diff rent flavored teas and placed them in the mugs along with the peppermints. I then wrap with cellophane and close with curly ribbon at the top. It looks like a miniature basket when you finish. It's thoughtful and will most likely be used since the weather is turning cold.

Write out a thank you card, and be specific about times when your teacher helped you to understand a subject that you were struggling with before her help. This thought-out present means more than any novelty gift. ---Teacher for fifteen years.

Something without the word disposable in it, otherwise you know where it is going to end up.

Other than that, I have heard some teachers actually like to read books. Perhaps that might be a good gift.

A giftcard for a bookstore, Starbucks, or a restaurant would be nice. Female teachers might also appreciate something from Bath and Body Works or a similar store. You could also bring him or her a box of candy.
