A stretcher is what paramedics use...it is a Board used to transfer patients to a Gurney. A Gurney is on wheels...what they used as hospital bed...if their is a need to move the bed...it has wheels so the can... a stretcher is what is most commonly found in ambulances....

A stretcher is carried by hand and a guerney is on wheels.
