I would walk right into the situation and put a stop to it. I have often told parents they were out of line when yelling at children . Then I would call CPS if it was serious enough. In Texas you do not have to give your name ever or you can give a fake name. But if you have the courage to give your name they will take the report more seriously. The number is 1800-252-5400.

i've done it before... i can never just walk away. I get one of those feelings that someone's got to be the one to stop it. Someone has to help the child. I used to work at a daycare, and we would have to call all the time... it was terrible to watch how some people treat their children.

You don't have to witness it to report it. if you suspect that a child is being abused physically or verbally you can report it and they may or may not investigate. But if you can save one life for that kind of treatment it is worth it.

I have reported child abuse. I could not live with myself, if I didn't try to help the child.

Well a lot of people over react when they see a parent hit a kid on the street. If they started to BEAT them then, yea I'd go WTF is wrong with you!? I don't know if'd call services. I wouldn't really be able to tell them who the person is.
But if they did something extremely bad, like cutting or bashing their head in ect., I would call 911.
