I am now 8 days past when I should have started my period, and I am starting to wonder if I am pregnant, however I have no other signs. I am going to take a test in the morning, because they say it is best to use your first, morning pee. Does anyone have any insight on how accurate a HPT will be after 8 days? Also, they say to either pee right on the stick, or in a cup and then dip the stick... is there a better way?

I have had some stress for the last few weeks, and wondering if that could really cause my period to not come this month. I am sexually active, and on the pill and am good about taking it, and use another form about 90% of the time. And, the last couple times we didn't. So it will either be stress or being pregnant that will win the battle.

Please answer about the hpt... thank you!!!

I've been in the same situation. In my case, it was stress. But pee right on the stick, its more effective. Aslo, try to relax and not be stressed out a little. good luck!

Stress can cause you to miss your period. The HPT test is very accurate. It doesn't even have to be the first morning urine. It can be accurate in less than 8 days. Just put the stick under the stream of urine. I think that is easier than peeing in a cup.

8 days after should be long enough to get an accurate reading on your test, there are some tests where you can test a few days before your period. Peeing on the stick is most effective, but the cup will do too, just make sure to follow the directions carefully.
Good Luck!

The HPT will be EXTREMELY accurate right now, and if you are pregnant it would probably show up if you took it tonight. I would have to say that if you do take the pill like you are suppose to then more than likely it is stress. I went a whole month one time without a period due to stress. I bet as soon as you take the HPT tomorrow your period will start! :-)

Well, if you are eight days late it doesn't matter what time of day you take the test.... I took a test in the afternoon 5 days before my missed period and got a positive!! And there are comparison charts on the web, to compare the sensitivity of the HPTs. If it says early pregnancy test they can usually be used up to 3 days before missed period...

Get some sleep. Take the test in the AM. It is very accurate especially 8 days out.

the cheap home pregnancy tests worked great for me both times i was pregnant. i always pee straight on it. also i never did it in the morning, but that is when they say is the best time to do it. stress can also cause you to be late and even skip periods. hope your test says what you want it to say. ALSO doctors even say the at home ones work just as well as the hospital ones.

being 8 days late the test should be very accurate 99.9% i believe it is. I have peed on the stick and it was accurate, the cup method is just a little cleaner. Good luck!

Even faint positives are constructive. So the first ones ought to advise you've been pregnant then. After 2 weeks, the hormone likely does not have shown up. So it appears like your pregnant and the nurse DID make a mistake even as she suggested it replaced right into a pretend alarm, because even a gentle line is detecting the hormone. So it appears like your pregnant including your ex bf. So i'm not confident of your difficulty yet this appears like an "oh no! :(" second. yet congratulations anyhow!
