In New York City they actually have volunteers who get letters from the Central Post Office & respond, sometimes even sending one of the requested gifts. The Post Office collects them & gives them to the volunteers at the beginning of December. It's nice to know that they don't just throw the letters away here.

The post office keeps them and I've even heard that there's a man who calls himself Santa and he reads as many letters as he can and tries to reply to them.

They go to Canada Post, and they hire special people to pretend to be elves or Santa, and those people read and reply to those letters.

Our local post office here in town actually sit down and write (only if they give a return address) back to the kids.... I think it is pretty neat.
