I just recieved in the mail a $247 check from my hospital. Pay to the order of ME! I don't understand. I went to the hospital last month for a first degree burn on my hand that happened at work. Workers Compensation covered the bill and the prescription 100%. I didn't pay anything at all. This is the only time I've been to the Emergency Room in over 10 years and the last time I went to the doctor was over a year ago for a bad cold. I don't understand why they are sending me money. Should I go ahead and cash it? Why would they be sending me money? Are they going to ask for it back in a few weeks? What should I do?

By the way, I'm not on health insurance right now. (I'm a student and have been under my parents insurance, but this last semester I was only part-time so I wasn't covered on insurance just for this semester). I don't think any kind of transaction was made through my insurance company. I could be wrong though.

I think your health insurance company AND workers comp. both paid the same billing, so they refunded you.

It was most likely a mistake, it's best to call them up and try to get some answers that way if they want their money back (I'm sure they will) you won't have to try and make it up from your own account. Good Luck
