Yes, but only to the extent that people with degrees get the higher paying jobs. You may not always stay with the degree work but, it will help no matter what field you go into. The degree and some experience will get you more in wages, benefits and promotions. Especially if you work hard and enjoy the work. So, yes. Just go for something you like and stick it out. A couple of yrs. of tough work will give you 50 yrs. of more money, making those years better and easier. Good luck. If you put it off, you may never do it.

Depends on what you're interests are in going into a career. Sometimes the best education is life itself. If you're planning on going into a scientific field, it'll be hard to find a job without some form of college. I also believe college graduates make more money in the same field as those without a degree.
Best of all, college really teaches you many things, not just about what you're interested in, but about societies, cultures, human nature, the animals & planet around us. I believe it makes you a well rounded person in the long run.
I would also like to stress that I have many sucessful friends without a college degree. So it's a decision you'll have to make. Don't let anyone tell you what to study, do something that you'll enjoy for the rest of your life. JMO.

We live in a world where degrees come first. Not a man's real command of his hands, just what a piece of paper says he can do. Is it worth it? If you got the courage to make things happen, face adversity, and perseverance, sorry son, nothing's gonna stop you. At face value, for the average Joe, college at best is gonna give you a job (getting sketchy these days, know a person who's excellent in her craft but hasn't been able to land the initial spot for a job yet for 5 years). But for the Smart Ted, it's a opportunity to make friendships with some people you might need to give a call later. So you look at it and make a judgement yourself. It's really a question you can honestly answer. We can only inform you what live's taught us thus far.

absolutely! I felt kind of the same way after high school, but I did it anyway. With a little age and some time in the work force it becomes apparent that the knowledge you gain in college is very worthwhile. My husband also felt that way at the end of high school. He graduated H.S. 7 years ago and through good career choices, hard work, intelligence, and a little luck he has advanced well through his company. For someone his age he has a fairly prestigious position and makes good money. However he see a ceiling in his future. Now, seven years after he graduated H.S., he is married, a father, working full time, and going to school full time. It's very hard. It's expensive. But it's worth it. I only wish he had done it at a time in his life when he didn't have so much already on his plate.....like right after H.S.

College is totally worth it. Yes, it's hard work sometimes but it's not as hard as you think. Until my senior year, i had a lot more free time in college then i did in high school. It's also a great time to meet new people and enjoy being young before you go out into the working world. Also, you have time to mature before becoming an adult with bills, and tons of responsibilities. College has been the best time in my life. (and don't foget college grads make a lot more money then HS grads =)

Quixstar.com, BigN.com, lots of things to do while your still getting your education to open up avenues of adventure. Take a break from your college career and take only half the hours you normally put in at school and get into the work force...taking only night classes and get your feet wet and see first hand what it is like without a full education and learn the hirelings jobs so that when you get in it will make you a better person when you are hired above them at a higher level with a completed education

College is definetly worth it, however, make sure you major in something that you can have a base in and start a career on. For example dont major in history and expect to come out making big $$. If you want the big-bucks then you have two choices
1.)major in a scence or math field, that will provide a solid base and make you good money
2.)major in something like history, or political science and go for your masters, doctorate, or law degree.
College is worth it only when you know how to make it work for you

that's why you go to college for something you are interested in. Studying becomes a whole lot easier when you enjoy what you are learning. You have to find your niche, what you enjoy doing and build and learn on that.
Maybe trade school is better for you if like skilled labor.
Whatever you do, you have to enjoy it or life is miserable (disclaimer: even learning something in college you like can still be hard and some days are miserable, but in the end it is worth it. At least it was for me.

At first it doesn't seem like it. I droped out of college after 2 years, but went back 2 years ago. High school will only get you so far.
If you don't go to college at least go to a trade school, because we are moving into a service economy.

If you want to get anywhere in life you have to work for it. If you don't want to be working at a minimum wage job with no benefits, then college is worth it. I am in my third year and I have struggled and adjusted but I keep pushing myself because I know I have to make something of myself. Life is not easy, and when you work for it the rewards are so much greater.
