should help .. bear in mind tho, that many recent model pcs' have dual channel capability and having two identical sticks of ram and configured properly in the bios will be faster ... and 99% of people dont need more than 1gig of ram .. and that will only give marginal increases in performance that can be noticed over 512 of ram ... but 256 is not enough for XP ... generally in most systems the fastest settup is two 512 sticks in dual channel ... and two 1 gig sticks is better if ur gaming but slightly slower in overall performance ...

mine has 512, but thats what is xp reccomended. i would suggest nothing over 1 gig of ram. its kinda a waste of money. for over 1 gig you wont notice a difference.

Only 256, because I haven't had the money to upgrade. It still runs well, though. I don't really do anything so RAM-intensive.

I have 2GB in my computer, a MacBook, but I use Parallels to run multiple operating systems. You're going to notice big difference with 1GB.
