my man and i have been together for five years, 5 months ago we moved in with each other. i have told him before when he wants me to marry him that i want a nice diamond. on sat. he came home with a jewerly box and inside it was a diamond ring and a gold chain, i ask him wow so u proposing he laughed at me, i asked him again, he laughed, so i put the ring on. now iam confused because he still hasn't asked me. is he like this because of his culture or what. i don't know if iam engaged or single.

I am sure that his intentions are good, and he is probably just a happy guy (to laugh in response). He also might be nervous about asking you to marry him. It could also be a cultural difference. I would just ask him, "Does this mean that we are engaged?" and, "When is the date?"

Well if you are thinking of marrying this person one thing clear you need to learn of their customs etc. If the ring is unclear how are you going to deal with other issues you know nothing about? And what type of communication is there that he cannot answer a simple question whether his culture or not are we engaged This is a simple yes or no is it not? Culture you are telling me disallows a lady to ask a question of the man and get a response. If this is the culture you speak of you would want to marry into it why?

The culture work like this: -
When a Muslim man wants a woman to be his wife, he will send a delegate to the woman's family to seek her hand in marriage. When the woman's family agrees than they will set a date for the solemnised wedding...thats simple!
So when you received the ring so wait for the delegate to reach your parent's house for a proposal of marriage.
