Brain cells too need rest. Proper and restful sleep helps in rejuvenating ones physical and mental abilities. A lot of studies have been done on sleep, and you can get info on this from various sources. The quantum of sleep and varies from person to person but what really matters is the quality of your sleep and not necessarily the quantity. Keep a watch on your day to day mental and physical activity levels and try to correlate these to your sleep pattern, to get some answer to you sleep needs.

yes, sleep greatly affects the way you act and pay attention. a sleepy person's brain works harder -- and accomplishes less.lack of sleep can even lead to nausea, lack of attention, shutdown, and hallucinations. its is important to get at least 8 hours of sleep everyday. your body & brain need rest to function properly.

yes. If you lack sleep you will lack concentration at school and be unable to focus. Also, you won't be up for doing much because you will be tired.

absolutely - you eventually fall asleep a minute at a time, while you are working, driving, etc. lack of sleep is linked to obesity, when you are tired you tend to eat more carbs for the sugar high it gives you, causes lower immunity, chronic illness, pain, loss of concentration, a host of problems!

Yes. If you don't rest, you'll get shaky and you'll probably be an emotional basketcase- or at least, I was! You might become irritable and accident-prone, and prone to typos. That's how I recognize that it's time to go to bed!
