No, I let it go if it went in the trash!
Once my husband had to go in the dumpster at our apartment to get his paycheck. He found it.

I threw some important papers away in the trash bag, then put the trash bag in the apartment dumpster. I had to go out and get in the dumpster, hunt until I found the bag of trash and get the papers out. It was gross.

Yes, more than once. One time I dropped a $100.00 bill and I was damned if I was going to leave it there. I have also dropped cigarettes and jewelry in the trash and retrieved it.

My cellphone I meant to throwaway some paper I was holding and I accidentally threw my cell phone in there!!! Oh it was so gross when I had to retrieve my cell phone but Im glad it was working okay.

An empty pack of cig's that had my ATM card and $200.00 I had just withdrawn. It was at a car wash in the evening so I was pretty lucky that it hadn't been dumped when I went back to get it!

One time I threw out a plastic bag from my car thinking it was a bag of garbage. Turns out it was a bag that I had put a bunch of stuff in to carry into the house, it had my CD case and everything in there!

i never had to "accidentally" throw something in a public trash can or dumpster to have that as an excuse to dive in and see what treasures might be in there.

when i was in 4th grade me and my parents were at a restuarant and i put my retainer into a napkin and then it got thrown away. so, we had to dig through the trash to get it.
it was SO nasty.
