Did President Lincoln had difficulty finding Generals who would fight in the Civil War?

Oh no - what he had difficulty finding were COMPETENT general officers! Many were appointed by the governors of their states and had little or no prior military training or experience. And several, as in the case of George McClellan, were acutely aware of the shortcomings of their volunteer soldiers and were too afraid of being whipped to act decisively. McClellan was a superb organizer, and trained and fed his soldiers well - but he was simply not a good combat commander. He was also a profoundly racist individual and strongly disbelieved in emancipation for the South's slaves - which may have affected to some extent his willingness - or lack thereof - to annihilate General Lee's army when he had the chance. In my humble opinion, Lincoln waited far too long to sack Little Mac - but he had not yet found the right man for the job.

He didn't have a problem finding Generals, he had a problem finding a good Commanding General to head the army. Finally he cought wind of Grant and commented that he" liked that man because he fights ".

~Not really. Everytime he turned around, there were Stonewall Jackson, JEB Stewart, JP Hill, James Longstreet, Bobby Lee and others killing off his Union troops. On his side, he had incompetent fools like George Meade, cowards like John C. Fremont, political opponents like George McClellan or disobedient fools like Dan Sickles to go to bat for him. When he finally discovered drunks like US Grant and bloodthirsty savages like Miles Sherman and pyromaniacs like Philip Sheridan, he done good.
Of course, Jeffy Davis had to deal with boobs like Harry Heath, Robert Rodes and Jubal Early who consistently proved their ineptitude when faced with the likes of Winfield Hancock or Henry Slocum or lucky SOB's like Gouverneur Warren. Kinda like any army really. Ya ought to try reading up on some of these guy's exploits. Beats the heck out of a Bruce Willis movie.
