It sounds like a hardware issue. It doesn't sound like a heat issue because you say it restarts as soon as you turn it on? I would say it is either a memory module gone bad or your mother board. Try reseating the ram.

Edit: you can actually stop it from restarting providing you can get it to log on.

System Properties -> Advanced tab -> 3rd "Settings" button under Startup and Recovery -> Untick "Automatically Restart" -> OK - > OK

this wont fix any hardware failure, but at least it will stop the actual restarting when there is some type of system failure

Sounds like the computer is blue screening then automatically rebooting itself. Boot into safe mode and then right-click My Computer and choose properties. Click the Advanced tab, then click Settings button in the Startup and Recovery section at the bottom. Click to uncheck automatically restart. When you restart your computer you should be able to see the blue screen. Use the code at the top to see what the error might mean. For example, c0000005.

Say hello to the blaster virus. Find someone that has another computer like yours and have them put on a 3.5 floppy a "malicious software removal tool" from microsoft. Put it in the floppy slot then start the computer. This might take 2 or 3 tries, but it is the only way I ever got rid of the dang virus short of wiping the hard drive. (which by the way is not 100% effective.)

Great question. It appears that you have hardware devices that are conflicting during startup. To locate the exact problem, you'd need to go in via safe mode which will allow you look around and see if you can locate the problem and correct it. I'll be happy to work with you on it until the problem is solved. Hit me on dumbbutt4321@yahoo.com if you'd like. Larry Radio Shack 01-9590

The best response to this is to simply go to Microsoft.com and get the download for your particular platform and re-download it. I had the same problem and that did it for me. My problem was that some components did not take when I downloaded the program.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
