1) Some people use the "double space" after a period and before the first word of a sentence.

2) When there is line that is skipped, leaving space for corrections, or maybe just to uncluster the words.

Double space normally refers to leaving a blank line between lines of text, which is presumably what you mean in your second example. That is most likely the answer to your question. However, the term can be used in the context of "double space after the period at the end of a sentence", which means you should leave two blank spaces following the period.

you hit your spaces bar twices in between words.or youindex and ring finger together spaces between words

means when you are typing---------hit enter twice to make space double instead of single!
