this doesnt make much sense to me when i think about it, and i never would've come up with black adn white myself.

i think of them as "browns" and "peachies" lol! anybody knwo any reasons behind this?

Its what all of us and our ancestors were used to hearing. "Blacks only" "Whites only". Besides if you went through everybody there are more color shades but its just easier to classify someone by saying white even if they arent exaclty white. But its just harder for us to walk around saying "Oh this brown skinned dude". HEY. he might be white with a tan. Never know....

I believe a lot of it also has to do with religious symbolism, and certainly not in a good way. White being pure and ideal, black demonic.

Also, the only 'white' people are albinos. Everyone else is a shade of brown.

I am a so-called "real *****" straight from Africa and my skin is about the same color as the actress Sanaa Lathan's, ie a few shades lighter than Janet Jackson. I don't call that jet black. Do you? The truth is that very few, if any, people on this earth are jet black. Most Africans are brown. Most whites are evil.

LOL! i wouldn't have commonplace a thanks to reply both! children are so observant of their threat free way, are not they? My chum Halla's youngest is about that age, so i'm absolutely going to run this by using her. I guess she sputters over it as well. it ultimately giver her a reliable giggle, only because it did one in all my housemates and me! ?

Hmmm, good question. I dont so much see myself as a peachie...maybe kinda creamish....lol. Who knows, peachie is kinda cute.....

It's easier to isolate and denigrate a group if you have a simple way of characterizing them.
