I really don't want to get into the political aspect of this discussion but I just want to say that it is not as easy as some people believe to censor every moment of a childs life. When you just get home and have to cook dinner, answer the phone and pay bills etc., it is a little bit difficult to keep your eyes on kids for each moment.

Also, if I felt in any way that the F word would increase the quality of television in any way, I might understand why it needed to be there, but it doesn't. It is not like it is a necessary part of speech, people get by everyday without using it. So why can't we agree that if it is not necessary in any way and offends people that we don't need to have it on public television??? Why is everyone out for what works best for them and not what works best for everyone???

Wow...so I actually read the article assuming that something was passed allowing the F-bomb to be allowed. That isn't even what it's about! All the article says is that the debate over the issue of profanity will be discussed and possibly televised.

I'm all for allowing the profanity in the right context. Do I want to hear it on Sesame Street? No...it's not appropriate. But to write dialog and scripts for tv shows while excluding how a good portion of the nation actually speaks...is totally unrealistic.

As with any censorship issue, if you have been warned prior to listening or watching, and you still listen and watch and then complain about it...it's your own stupid fault for complaining. America isn't a cookie cutter nation of drones who can't think or speak their minds as they please without worrying about offending every uptight conservative who has nothing better to do with their time. And to assume that their are no right-wing people out there who don't use profanity is absurd...Republican doesn't equal all-holiness.

Sorry for the rant, but it all just flowed...

Funny how when you people don't get your way, the liberals are the ones to blame. Hmmmm, terrorists crashed into WTC and the Pentagon, and Pa, it's the liberals fault! We are in stuck in a botched war and can't get out, it's the liberals fault! Enron fell in flames of scandal, and the "poor" CEO cried all the way to the bank, must be the liberals fault too. Oh and NOW the "F" word will be said on TV. DAMN us liberals. Dude, grow up, and move on.

We ARE happy, thank you. Actually, though, I've never even heard of this. And I am a liberal. Why blame me? *Sniffle* Not my fault. But seriously, dude, get over it. So what if there's swearing in tv? The people that get offended or shocked by swearing shouldn't be watching a show where there IS swearing.

Parents need to censor television not the FCC. If you don't want your kid to see it, don't let them watch it. If they do and you've failed as a parent, you can obviously take the conservative high road and blame liberals....

If you're not worried about your children and are just acting stuffy, get over yourself. Swearing is acceptable in vernacular. Listen to music, watch movies.... television was just an eventuality.

It's not called a 'curse word' for nothing.

Wow, this is great! Maybe we can actually get back our rights in the first amendment soon!!!

Of course the way I feel about this is, either everything is ok to show (uncensored) or nothing is.
