She can do Yoga and Tai Chi. Tai Chi is like karate, but there is no physical contact with other people, and the movements are like dancing, or flowing water. Yoga is like karate, too, but is mostly meditating to balance your chackras. Chackras are points in your body that keeps you in check. If one of them is unbalanced, you get stress. If you add more stress, that stress will lower your immune system and you will get sick. Yoga helps you to lessen the stress from the pregnancy and other issues that is going on. Both Tai Chi and yoga both teach you to have discipline through motions and positions you do in both. Yoga, you have to be flexible to do most of the positions in some of the advance placement levels through the videos. I suggest getting a beginners Tai Chi and a beginners Yoga video so both of you can relieve your stress together.

I wouldn't have her start a different exercise program while pregnant. Light exercise, like walking or swimming, is the best choice. If she had already been doing karate and it was non-impact (like just doing the moves in front of her and not practicing with an actual person) it would be fine until she got too big. I did tae-bo until my fifth month, which was when the clumsiness and balance issues began. But I also had been doing it for a year before I conceived.
If you're both too heavy, just focus on a healthy and well balanced diet, and some light exercise for her.

Walking is good for her. Karate I dont think is a good choice. I would never even want to do Karate being pregnant.

If she was already doing it, thenit is fine to continue until the doctor tells her to stop. If she hasn't, then wait.
