My best memories of Christmas was when I was a kid and all of my relatives would get together, or go from house to house to visit relatives. Lots of wonderful food, lots of presents and just being with family members. It's not like that anymore, with most everyone living in different states, and some passed away. I really do miss those days. It was the one day out of the entire year my mom didn't have to drag me out of bed. LOL. :P

Every year until I stopped believing in Santa Clause. I remember the JOY I felt thinking, " Oh, tonight Santa Clause is going to fly his reindeer around the world and come down my chimeney." I wish Santa was really real. So, every Christmas that I believed in Santa Clause was my most memerable Christmas. How bout' you?

It has to be the year that I was 16 years old, when I was living on Long Island in New York. My Dad had been sent to Iceland as part of his job, and was due home Christmas Eve. However, the fog was so bad in Rekjavik that none of the airports opened for two days. My Mom slept on the couch in the living room, in case the phone rang and there was a message. Well, around 2 AM it did ring; it was a telegram from my father.
It started: 'Amsterdam...' (Okay, Mom thought; Amsterdam, NY isn't too far away) '...taking night boat to Dover...' (Oh, thought Mom; THAT Amsterdam...)
Mom, my grandparents, and I decided to open one gift each on Christmas day, and wait until Dad got home to open the rest. He got a flight out of England on Christmas night, and we celebrated Christmas the next day.

Probably the first christmas after my uncle died. We celebrated with my aunt, to cheer her up. We were like 8 adults, 7 kids and 5 teenagers.. This was almost a year after he died, but it was still sad.
But I just can't forget the sight of the gift-filled livingroom!! We had to have all the gifts and the three in one room, while we sat in another, because it was no space left in the "gift-room". It was also really nice, since we were so many.

The first one away from my family, 1983. I lived at the Grand Canyon, Arizona and celebrated with friends; one who provided a case of champagne as a group gift; another provided a jelly roll pan full of fudge. My parents sent my gifts to a friend so I wouldn't peek. Lonely for family - but my subfamily was fantastic!
