I see questions about all kinds of compounds and what the formulas mean all the time so this isn't that hard to answer,
To get straight to the point the formula of any compound, wether it is composed of 2 atoms or 2000 atoms is in essence the same.

For the compound with the formula Aa#Bb$Cc&....
it just means that there are # atoms of the element Aa, $ atoms of the element Bb, & atoms of the element Cc.....
so the formula for Calcium Bicarbonate (Ca(HCO3)2) means there is 1 atom of Ca (If there is no number after a capital letter in a formula is means there is only 1 of that element), and that there are 2 "atoms" of HCO3 or in other words that it is H2C2O6 because you just multiply the number after eact Chemical Symbol by the number outside the parentheses, which makes it 1 atom/mole of Ca, 2 atoms/moles of H, 2 atoms/moles of C, and 6 atoms/moles of O.
And to answer your second question, there would be (3)x2 or 6 atoms/moles of oxygen depending on wether it is a mole of Ca(HCO3)2 or a single molecule of it.

The Ca(HCO3)3 no longer the right answer b/c Calcium is in crew 2 of the periodic table, and the final rule is that alkaline earth (crew 2) cations continually have a 2+, and so once you "go-overed" between Ca2+ and bicarbonate (HCO3 has a million-), the most impressive answer must be Ca(HCO3)2. And for the # of oxygens, when you consider that there are 3 of them in parentheses, and there is two outdoors, you multiply: 3 x 2 =6. therefore you've 6 oxygens.

HCO3- is the bicarbonate ion and when ever u find this in a compound, its surely called some metal bicarbonate..

when u need to calculate the no of atoms of an element in brackets,3(corresponding no. of oxygen with in bracket) x 2 (no. outside bracket..
so there are 6 oxygen atoms,2 carbon,2 hydrogen..

hope u r satisfied..

Yes it is, and there are 6 (3 x 2) oxygens
