There is nothing as Ca(HCO3)3. Since calcium is bivalent and bicarbonate is monovalent, the formula of calcium bi carbonate is Ca(HCO3)2. It contains, obviously, 3*2 = 6 oxygen atoms.

The Ca(HCO3)3 not the right answer b/c Calcium is in group 2 of the periodic table, and the general rule is that alkaline earth (group 2) cations ALWAYS have a 2+, and so when you "cross-overed" between Ca2+ and bicarbonate (HCO3 has 1-), the correct answer should be Ca(HCO3)2.
And for the # of oxygens, since there are 3 of them in parentheses, and there's 2 outside, you multiply: 3 x 2 =6. Thus you have 6 oxygens.
