How Many Syllables In Everyone

2016-11-18 05:04:52 · answer #7 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

It really depends on how you say the word "every", which varies with different dialects of English. Most Americans say the word "EVV-ree" (with two syllables). Consequently, everyone would have three. However it is also correct to say "EV-uh-ree", which would lengthen "everyone" to four syllables. Neither is really considered more correct than the other.

My dictionary, the Oxford American Dictionary, says there are three, but I've heard it pronounced so that it sounds like four syllables, but I'd say three is correct.
