I am Moroccan and Norwegian and whenever I'm in the cold I am very light skinned, but when it gets sunny or warm I am back to my tanned skin color. Why is this?

In addition to what crossndunk and plucack say, everyone gets tan in the sun, even the darkest skin people you've ever seen, but the darker the person is, the harder it is to detect. Take some colored pencils or crayons. draw a white circle, then color over it with a bit of black or dark brown....big difference, right? Now draw a brown circle and cover over that with the same dark brown or black....there's a difference, you just don't notice it as well b/c it was darker to begin with. Now take a black or dark brown crayon/colored pencil and make a 3rd circle and cover that with the same color as before. Can't really see a difference, can you? But it's there. Doesn't matter if you were 100% Moroccan, you'd still tan, just wouldn't be so noticeable.

Come to think of it, it's kinda like blushing. very obvious on whites, but Blacks blush too, you just can't see it as well. Difference between blushing and tanning is that tanning is bad for you and could give you cancer, but I never heard of someone getting cancer from blushing! :o)

Why are you asking this question? When you are in the sun, the light goes in your skin and you get darker. When you are in the cold, then you get dry skin and that makes you whiter.

Im always tan, so I dont know what your problem is.

Sunlight stimulates melanin production. UVB light, which causes sunburns, is responsible for stimulating your melanin. Secondly, UVA light turns this stimulated melanin brown. Assuming your heritage is of both Caucasian and African descent, you probably can achieve a deep, long lasting tan quite easily and generally don't burn easily.

its becuase the sun causes your skin to create more melanin when you have increase exposure to it.
Thus:
summer = more sun = darker skin
winter = less sun = lighter skin
It happens to everyone, even black people, its just how noticalbe it is to everyone except you,.
