Why is it so hard to find a job. I recently finished my externship hours to graduate school for medical administrative assistant. I have put my resume online at different places. I had an interview on monday and it went like hell cause I only got asked like two questions the girl who interviewed me was "drained" from finals that morning so she didnt say much just what the front office does which I have done the basics at my externship place. I was working at a chiropractors office which I enjoyed but only doing my hours there. The school is helping me find a job but its almost going on two weeks that I have been without a job. It's so stressing. Then I think I want to go back to school for something else. but I would have to find a job either way too pay for it. Atleast part time if that. I live in a small town so I drive about 45 minutes to San Antonio to either go to school or get a job. The distance isn't a problem, but finding a job sucks. Anyone wanna try to help me get a job? :) Or any San Antonians know who is hiring maybe at your job? :) I mean its so hard finding one that I am even thinking about getting any job just to bring some income to my household

There are jobs out there, but in this part of the country the pay is not what it is in many other cities, or states. They do not pay much down here unless you are a professional such as a lawyer, doctor, or executive. If you want good pay, you may want to scout around other big cities, or even look out of the state. Check out all possibilites of other locations!

There's a company called INFONXX located on the northwest side in the bandera area they start you off with 8.00 an hour and they have great benefits!! They will hire you on the spot, all you have to do is take a basic spelling test (5th grade level) and be able to type atleast 20-25 wpm if you can do this then you have a job TODAY!! Seriously. Oh I forgot to mention the most important part, you will be working as a 411 operator (Nationwide Directory Assistant). Now we all know that there's a downside to every job, the bomb shell is that the customers talk to you like crap! and you have to take it now me personally when i was there it didn't bother me a bit it was hilarious! If anything I had to refrain from laughing at the customer the mute button is great for that!! For the most part its a good starter job. The address is 6010 Exchange Parkway, it use to be an old movie theater. If you need more info call 767 7000. I hope this was helpfull. GOOD LUCK! P.S. Prepare to be there atleast 2 hours.

It sounds like you're a native to San Antonio or Texas. Part of the problem is associated with the supply and demand of your profession. Consider applying for positions outside of San Antonio (Austin, Dallas, Houston, other cities, etc.). Once you build up a year or two of solid experience, then try applying for positions in your home town. If you're stuck to only San Antonio (due to your marital partner's job assignment), then look for positions where you can use your skills and abilities until you find the career/job you're looking for. Looking at your description, I'm sure you could find a secretary or administrative assistant position easily in our nation's 7th largest city (San Antonio).
Most professionals seek to return to their home towns; but have to start in different areas to get an income and work experience.
Just a suggestion. Also, consider having a few professionals read over your resume and cover letter. Remember, your goal is to sell yourself in a positive way on your resume. This can be a hard task when competing against 100 other people for a similar position.
Hope things work out for you. I visited San Antonio for the first time back in November and loved it!

I'm not sure if you saw it but I think the Express-News recently had a medical oriented job fair. I'm sure they will repeat that again.
With the growth in the medical center and several new hospitals being built I'd suggest checking the websites for the three major chains, Santa Rosa, Methodist and Baptist for openings. Then look at CRC and the VA, University and Texsan hospitals.
Finally, check a couple of the medical groups--Gonzaba comes to mind and there are others.
San Antonio is a beautiful city and the employment picture is picking up very nicely.
Good luck! I know it is easy to get discouraged, but something will show up!

Try staffing agencies that cater to medical only. San Antonio is always hiring and the cost of living is much lower, so the pay is also lower. You might search the outside areas, such and Selma, Schertz, Universal City and Live Oak, which all have newer facilities and a good client base.

Go to www.workintexas.org and get registered in the system to look for employment. Also call Alamo Worksource and see where they have an office near you if you'd rather come in person to look online on their computers.
