There is very little time during the year when conditions are condusive to growth so there are few plants to eat yearround. Its feast or famine. It is also very cold and dry, so the combination of limited food and a lot of energy needed to stay warm makes it a bit hostile. But it is beautiful though.

because all organisms, including humans faces harsh winters of winds reaching speeds of more than 170 miles per hour, surviving long periods of sub-zero temperatures, blizzards, drought, rocky soil conditions and strong sunlight. Severe weather can occur at any time of the year at this altitude.
