Nothing, the United Nations is the worst organization in the world, a waste of money, a nest of corruption, how can they stop genocide if they can't even control themselves?..☺

Unfortunately, the UN actually has no authority to do anything to stop genocide in other countries without the other countries allowing the UN to let Peacekeeping troops within its borders.

For example, Darfur, the civil war has been going on since the collapse of European colonization in 1983. When the territory of Sudan was created, it lumped Arab muslims to the north and black christians in the south. As soon as Europe decolonized, the north attacked the south and to this day the violence and killing continues. Over 2 million people have been murdered. However, the "cartoon" government of Sudan will not allow the UN to send peacekeeping troops into its borders.

The only thing the UN can do is economic and trade sanctions. However, as is seen in this case it is not totally enforceable. What you can do is contact your senators to put pressure on the government to appeal to the UN and get troops into Sudan.

Very little. As you can tell by the US taking action against genocide in Iraq, the UN is very much corrupt and is mostly a talking society of socialists and corrupt politicians.
Khoffi Annon's own son was so embroiled in the "oil for food" scandal of bribery to let Saddam escape UN sanctions, can that organization be taken seriously? NO

And what has happened when the UN has taken action?
The rape of women and children
The apathy of blue helmeted bureaucrats who watch Hezbollah set up missiles to be used on Israeli civilians, playing volleyball in the shadow of the Hezbo flag, no less.
The support, rather than the punishment of countries with slavery, female genital mutilation, genocide, and all forms of decrepid human behavior. It's all ok to the UN, unless you are jewish, American, or for heaven's sake---capitalist.

Don't expect them to do anything. Action has to this point only been the product of American action and outrage.

The same thing as usual....Wait for the USA to take action, then call us occupiers. All the time, stealing our money (since we cover 80% of the UN budget), then vote against the USA in every floor vote that helps us, while letting 3rd world countries demean us.

That's what they will do.
