At our recent HOA meeting, a purposed budget was presented to all that live here, a large number of members/residents did not agree with this due? The Board said we could not vote nor comment on it...it was a closed vote, exclusive to board members. Our bylaws clearly state that any member present at such meetings can vote. How can they get away with this? Should we seek legal help in this matter, or just burn down the president's house?

The board is legally bound by the by-laws. Those of you that opposed the vote should consult an attorney to be sure you understand the bylaws properly first. They can explain your options from there.

campaign to remove the board of directors - most bylaws have you voting to elect directors who in turn make decisions like the budget and who to cite with home owners violations.

Best bet is to run against the current directors and get fellow neighors to run too.
