If you had to choose, would you prefer to be a member of the United States of Europe, or the United States of America? Assuming that you had to choose between one or the other. Staying as we are is not an option.

Sorry Luddite, I do not think you understand the question. True we are Europian, but a half hearted member of the Europian union, for example, we do not have the euro but insist on keeping the pound. What Im talking about is haveing one Government for all and becomeing a fully intergrated part of Europe,

I'd choose the US of A every time and on almost any issue.
Us Brits have more connections with the USA than we do with Europe. Our history with Europe has mostly been war. Even though we fought a long and bitter War of Independence with US, we have remained firm trading partners for nearly two centuries.
Both UK and USA have a great deal in common. First there is the language, which Winston Churchill once described us as being two nations divided by a common language. It really is the only significant difference.
We both believe in pretty much the same things - Freedom, Liberty and Democracy. And, according to Ben Franklin, you cannot have too much democracy.
I do not need to say any more about all of this, I'm confident you already know.

Even though America's leaders have always been too aggressive using Iraq and Vietnam as examples, I would choose to join America. Our allies in Europe-France and Germany seem to be constantly siding with each other to exclude us. We are paying far too much as our European financial contribution. I would close The Channel Tunnel permanently, leave Europe and the EEC and become a self governing State.

'Oxymoron', seems to be operating under the delusion that Europe would maintain our heritage. It would take great pleasure in destroying it. We are talking about unpatriotic left wingers here. I hate the left wing totalitarian government in Europe, so, I would have to go for the USA. Also, 'luddite', who is quite happy to refer to people as idiots, does not seem to understand that, whilst we are geographically part of Europe, we are not YET part of the Federal States of Europe. And I hope that we never will be.

Don't know where you come from but neither has my vote and are not an option. I do know that America and the EU are both dotty dictatorships as far as the rest of the World is concerned. Personally I would like to form a political / economic zone based on the Commonwealth.

I'm an ex brit immigrant, and guess what? I moved into the USA from the EU. Not my own choice but a very good move in my opinion. I still want to visit Europe and the UK when I leave home though.

United States of Europe by far.. and are already members of Europe anyway.. if you want to call it the United States of Europe fine.. we call it the Euopean Union!
We would lose freedom of speech completely if we became part of the States.. We would all have to hang flags outside our front doors; go to cake bakes and watch evangelical church leaders on our tv screens... as well as making McDonalds our second home...
sorry but Europe any day!

Given a choice id integrate into the north Atlantic free trade association , while pulling out of the EEC which i think isn't working properly simply because of the shear amount of countries which have now joined.
I have lived and worked in the states, my partner comes from there and i think its just a much better place to do business in.

My personal preference would be America, as the differences between the two countries appear fewer in comparison to the diferences between the UK an mainland Europe. And with the way the European Parliament drains money and the European Union demands money, finacially being with the US may be beneficial. And we're apparently as fat as them now anyway.
