I have it all my life but I didn't know about it until my 2nd year of college. But now that I look back I think my ADD was productive instead of disruptive. If it weren't for my overactive mind I wouldn't have done the many things I have:

Latch hook
Scrap booking
Learning Japanese
Learning to play the guitar and later the flute
Painting/drawing

The list could go on...granted I didn't finish most of the things but I did stay interested for at the least 6 months.

So am I just a busy body or is my ADD helping become a jack of all trades?

I've finished most of the items listed...I just never fully learned Japanese or learned to play the instraments very well.

I also forgot about crochet and knitting and the many books I've devoured...too many things to list

If one doesn't know the actual purpose of life it doesn't matter what one has their life will be a complete waste of time. Read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada. Understand the meaning of life. Most people are distressed and have all these disorders because this is not our real home. IT is called Maya or illusion and is temporary and full of misery. Try chanting the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra. I know some people who had Add and it is very much under control from practicing chanting this great Mantra for deliverance from suffering and illusion. go to krishnaculture. for complete details on chanting and relief from all mental disorders.

Definitely it can be productive. My son who is 12 has adhd and is in honors courses and is going to take his SA Ts this year. You just have to tap into something that is enjoyable, so there is nothing wrong with wanting to try and to do different things.

I think ADD is totally productive.

Most people I know with ADD are "creative" ,"assertive", "productive", "spontaneous"

All kinds of more positive adjectives I could say, but I have to go!
Much more positive than negative. Don't try to cover it up with meds if you don't have to either.

Have you really "done" anything if you didn't finish them?
