The 2 life sentences refers to the number of crimes that the accused was found guilty of. However, a life sentence doesn't mean that a prisoner has to serve it his whole lifetime though it may seem that way. Life sentence usually lasts between 30-40 years. If after that period the prisoner is still alive, he will be released or even earlier than that if he qualifies for pardon.
