Both people need to give 100% of their effort to the marriage. That way if one person cannot give his full amount, there is still plenty of effort from the other person.

Communication is the key to a happy marriage. You must be able to talk about anything and everything that is bothering you. You must feel that your spouse supports you and loves you no matter what happens.

You must always put your marriage above other things. It is more important that going out shopping or playing golf. It is more important than a weekend away with friends. Your family needs to come first in your priorities.

You must communicate so you both know what is wrong, what you want. For example, my spouse thought I didnt want to be with her anymore, when I very much did. She thought that because I came home late everynight and didnt see her ever. I did that because I thought she didnt love me anymore, when she very much did. We never talked about what was bothering us, and only assumed things, which lead to infidelity, and then separation. When it was finally too late, and after infidelity, we finally talked about it, and realized we both should have just talked about it, and avoided the whole mess. Communication is the best thing.
