What's the difference between a Duo Processor and Duel Processors?

Does having duel processors = better performance than a Duo Processor of equal rating?

Duo processors is a brand name
In Intel speak
Intel Core 2 Duos have dual cores just the same as
Dual core Intels
the only difference is the architecture of the CPU
the Core 2 Duos have a newer and more efficient architecture
less power is used
while more power is being generated

if you had to pick between Core 2 Duo and Dual Core Intels, go with Core 2 Duo, it is about 80% more efficient than the old Intel (the dual core intel)

Note: the clock speeds (2.4ghz 3ghz, etc.) cannot be compared between the 2
a 2.4 ghz Core 2 Duo is the same as a 2.8 ghz AMD processor which is the same as a 3.6ghz older intel processor.

Dual= 2 processors in one CPU, which is more pricey


Duo= A single Processing unit, Which id built equivilant to 2 processors

essentially they combine 2 processors (in the process losing some of there power) and say its 2 for a DUO


but in a duel, there is actually to seperate processors

The new CoreDuo processors have two processors inside the die (Processor package). Dual processors have just that... two physical processors on the motherboard. I believe the new CoreDuo's may share or mirror some cache so there may be better performance than two physical processors, but if they all had the same specs the difference would most likely be marginal.

No differerence - they are the same thing and both are outdated.

Duo or Dual means there are actually two CPU's on the motherboard. Now we use Dual-Core PC's - which means there is still only one CPU chip - but inside the chip it is built as it there were two CPU's they are just packaged in the same chip. Much more efficient, runs cooler, and lasts longer and more accurate than the dual or duo processor.

ok haveing Duel processors = have two whole CPUs on a single motherboard. usually on severs or advanced content creation workstations. the Duo is the name fo intels new duel core processors. which in a single processcor chip or die with two logical cores. think a head with two brains. versus just two heads

Intel Dual Core is much faster than 2-Processor motherboards.

The difference has to do is the second one is "on dye" - or on the same chip. Or in the case of duel processors the second one is on the "same motherboard".

It is much faster for the on dye.

I don't know. Nintendo DS stands for Dual Screen and also Duo is most likely close to dual. Ask the sales person.

not for the normal pc home user, dual processors are for big business users I have a amd 64x2 3800 and i cant see the difference in speed..... unless your a game player
