How has September 11 effected foreign policy and the US as a whole?

The sympathy and brotherhood the world felt for the USA (governement, not its people) quickly turned sour when it started throwing its weight around. Most governments now try and distance itself from the US and its policies.

I gave Bush the excuse he was looking for to bully the rest of the world and the citizens of the USA too.
