The most basic thing a plant cell does that differs it from animal cells is that they contain chlorophyll and can carry out photosynthesis.
Plant cells are eukaryotic and have many of the structures found in animal cells.

* Plasma membrane
* Nucleus and nucleolus
* Mitochondria
* Ribosomes
* Endoplasmic reticulum
* Golgi apparatus
* Peroxisomes
* Microtubules

Plant cells differ from animal cells in lacking:

* centrioles
* intermediate filaments

and having:

* plastids
* a cell wall
* large vacuoles
