I had the answer to an algebra problem for someone on Answers, but couldn't type it because I have no idea how to type the little number for an exponent. For example: X square, how do I type a little 2 up in the corner to represent "square"?

The "^" symbol is to represent that.

Example: 5^2 = 5 Squared. = 25

But, if you're using Microsoft Word, type the exponent.

52 - Like That

Then, highlight the 2, go to Format>Font. In there, check "superscript," and click OK.

You end up with a nice exponent!

It actually depends on the font that is being used. Generally speaking, the easiest way to find special characters is to use Character Map tool in Windows to look up the required symbols. Just do Start --> Run --> type in "charmap" without "" and hit enter.
