What is your defination of a Prep? You know the ones in school. People say" ohhh she is such a Prep". Some people think of it differently. So whats your version? What is a Prep?

Ack. People calling other people preps is one of the few things that really piss me off. I go to school with true preps. A true prep does not wear Abercrombie, Hollister, etc... Those are fake/imitation prepiness.
A true prep generally refers to a person on the east coast from a prominent white upper class (think WASP-white anglo-saxon protestant), who goes to a prepatory school (private or boarding), and then go to the Ivy league colleges. They wear Lilly Pulitzer and JCrew, sometimes Burberry, Izod, etc..., although they have become mainstream- not abercrombie. To get a good idea, go to youtube and find the Tea Party music video. Except for the rapping, the words and clothes give a good idea of preps.
Or, go to urbandictionary.com. Ignore the abercrombie/hollister ones, go to the other ones. Or, Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld is a good book.

At my daughter's middle school, the Preps are considered those on the Pom/Cheer squads, Drillteam members, and the seriously upper percentage of the academics, especially the jocks who are in this percentile.

Preps are generally rich kids who think they're better than everyone else, and yes, they do wear expensive clothing (thats how you tell they're rich). in general , though, just because you wear nice clothes doesn't mean you're preppy. it's the snobbery and looking down on people who don't have as much money as you that makes you preppy.

someone who is rude, mean, stupid - in other words popular. and i sooo dont agree with the girl who answered thid b4 me, i go to a privite school and its the same as public. the people that go to a privite school just get a lil better learning, i dont think its true and i hate my school

Its a label fro popular preppy people, they call them that cause there jealous w/e its ppl that dress in liek all abercrombie and hollister i guess its popular

I think of preps as girly girls, people who say "So like the other day I like saw this hot guy and I was like ZOMG my HAIR!" ...etc. You know.
