I mean an entire division of US troops could go into a town full of terrorists & unless Bin Laden is in that town, not one US troop would know the difference between a terrorist & a Iraqi/Afgan milkman. So please tell me how the US military is going to win the war on terror if they can't even identify the terrorists?

Yes, we all know that if a US troops is getting shot at that person is either a terrorist or an insurgent & should be shot ASAP. And intelligence can work too but who knows that it isn't just some guy with grudge against someone he doesn't like? One thing for sure is the Iraqi Shia, who make up most of the Iraqi Army/police know exactly who the foreign terrorists are and the home grown insurgents. Which makes me wonder, wouldn't that make the Iraqi national army better at figthing the insurgents/terrorists than the US military even without US training?

first of all why you want war all the time. Americans(few power& money hungry ¬ the peace loving majority) think that they are self appointed international police and have a duty to interfere in every country affairs. there are many people in the world who are not literate and are not aware of the things going around the world, they dont read newspapers and there was no television either till recently. since a decade television has made rapid progress and even if one is illiterate ( cant read or write)one can see hear what is going on. CNN and BBC can be reached to the remote places due to dish TV. I was so trilled to watch a live speech of the president of USA when I first installed a Dish 10 yrs ago. the entire world is witnessing what is going on. every body is convinced that USA (not the common people) is a big bully. it was okay when USSR was in existence, where one could have blamed them all the wrongs & problems, but now focus of the whole world has changed. earlier there were kings and the rich surrounding him who used to plunder other people kingdom(countries) wealth now its the president and his businessmen. The Iraq war is painfull (as are other wars) Death is okay but to live a crippled life is very hard whether it is a wounded soldger or a civilian. Its a great thing to fight a war to defend oneself but quite another to attack for somebody else wealth. I believe in one thing " If u dont have friends its okay but dont go out of the way to create enemies". It all started during the afganistan war the USSR troops were firmly holding on and USA did not want a war or direct involment so they trained the mujahiddin with best and the last system of warfare( that was the only best available thing left for USA). this training and money developed a whole new system of terrorism. the USSR left but nobody won. That system which was nurturing terrorist against USSR suddenly became Unemployed so they went anywhere. They have been coming to India( endless patience) But US will shoot first then ask Questions got a huge business for The Osamanians ( bin laden). So how are u going to fight a virus ( is a protein particle, if a tomato has a virus attack it is recomended to destroy the plant as protein will cogulate with heat only. what about if human has a virus u cannot boil or burn your body). you Have to have patience and through diplomacy and change in attitude can reduce war. This war like many is for wealth and power it shows how arrogant one can be. India has been crying years how pakistan nurtures terrorists but nobody was bothered. look at the monster created

Our troops can't possibly know who is a terrorist and who is a civilian, and unfortunately for the troops, they might as well be walking around with flashing lights and targets drawn on them. They are being sacrificed needlessly and foolishly, and the republicans still don't get why they lost the election.

i just read an article by a us sniper saying that they know who the bad guys are but our stupid rules of engagement keep them from putting the lead to them we have to build a case against these idiots for some reason before we can kill them a real shame

that is th problem with fighting a gorilla war no one knows who they are fighting and the untied states taught Bin Laden these tactics when Russia was invading Afghanistan and th untied states learned them from fighting the american indians
