Go with the groups, i think the reason behind how so few people belong to them is due to the amount of choice, not only have you got groups all over the web, such as car owners clubs but then you have myspace, aol, yahoo, msn, bebo, faceparty, so get on the rest of them and drop a link to your group and tell the world why yours is so good, if all else fails, get a blog

No, you are not wasting your time. Just because some groups have way to many members, or not enough members, does not mean that you could not be successful in yours. You should start a group that you know a lot about, in case anyone has questions. It would be fun, and a challenge for you, just to see if you can be the best at what group you would be starting. Give it a try, you don't have anything to loose, and it could turn out to be the best group, on the web..Good Luck...go for it..

based on what u need..
Groups:
1.Groups... are public or private..
2.u need to sign in with yahoo email address to browse the contents.
3.ur msg sent immediately to all members and all subscripted to the group using emails.
where blog is different.
1.Blog are public
2. can be access with a link or the domain u have or a free sub domain from the blog host server.
3. ur post available to all ppl who only subscripted to the site using RSS Feed or used to view ur blog regularity.
if u are looking for something can be accessed through domain without any identification and with simple step.. try blog.
else.. if u are looking for privacy and security and being invisible "secret teams for secret projects", try yahoo groups.
is it wasting for time, that's is ur question.
the answer is based on what u need.. ;)
