Im beggining to think they grow legs and they have a secret land of pens that they run off to and watch us from a distance laughing while we frantically search for them.

There are these gremlins and they come in a steal the pens off the counters at night. They are deathly afraid of the light so that's why the come at night. They steal the pens and are stockpiling them. Eventually the world will run out of pens and they will come out of their hiding places and be heroes because they will have all of our pens.

well i've worked in doctor's offices for 12 years and have collected drug rep pens. so i'll say...the missing pens are in my closet in shoe boxes, hidden.
