I'm white. Kinda white anyway, more tan in summer.
I'm not offended at all by the word cracker or honkey, or whitey or anything else.
I believe that people with dark brown, tan, reddish, yellowish, pink, green or purple skin color should not react as though offended by being called any name that signifies color variation.
The person calling names that are usually considered in bad taste of offensive, usually intends to offend, annoy or humiliate others. Don't let them have what they want.
You can choose your reaction. You can choose to become very angry, start a fight, yell and scream, act offended or depressed or any of a dozen sad reactions.
You can also choose to say, "Yes I am, it is interesting that you noticed." and leave it at that. Don't give them any control.
If a person calls you fat or stupid you can act angry, emotional or offended or you can say, "You know, I was thinking the same thing." Don't give them any satisfaction in evoking a negative reaction.
Finally, if you are black, white, yellow, red, green, purple or any other color, take joy in your variation. Flowers come in all colors and so do we, let's enjoy our colorful humanity. Don't let sick folks spoil it, some of them can't help it.
It's time to stop sniveling about slavery. It is no longer a legitimate excuse.

Racial slurs are designed to HURT another....for no other reason; therefore, Blacks are currently using "Cracker" to try to hurt Whites....don't think it is working. But what it is doing is creating an atmosphere that allow Whites to call Blacks "N I Ggers" and not feel guilty about it! This, of course, is only a partial reason, as Whites are also constantly being exposed to Blacks calling each other *** ger in music and film, so I think the word is getting more exposure now than it did 20 years ago! AND, the Blacks are sensitive to the word as well, so the racial slurs are coming not only from fellow Blacks but the rate is increasing publicly from Whites and others.
Furthermore, the N word wasn't always as derogatory as you would like to make it out to be. In most of the country it was simply a word to describe Black people, no more derogatory than Black. You can change the words all you want, but if the person saying it doesn't respect you or your culture, than the feeling is the same whether it is *** ger, Black, *****, Colored, or whatever dozens of other slurs there are. Cracker is a slur, Honky comes from whites in the south picking up black prostitutes at their houses, and honking the car horn because they didn't want to get out of the car, and the gals came running, BTW, sort of strange to use that as a racial slur again Whites??

I am white and have been called Honky,Cracker among many other things. I lived in the Black Ghetto back in the 80's. All of the name calling was from the women not the men. It did not then nor does it now bother me what people call me, it's whats in our hearts that count.
I think people do that out of insecurities, ignorance and fear. If people would just get to know each other all of that stupidy just melts away. We are all wonderful and beautiful in our own way.
I'll have to say I came out wayyyyyyy ahead of those that ridiculed me, I have the most beautiful Bi-racial daughter in the world.

Hey "LS",
I would'nt flatter yourself thinking that an entire race thinks up names to call you or anyone else for that matter. Just a typical ignorant bigot is all i see you as. Your example you so graciously left us all with doesnt make any sense. How is being paranoid of a color compare with what your trying to say "its like the big bully from up the block who really likes that girl..but bullies her to get her attention"??
I think that it's all outdated Bullshyte and it's time to move on towards being a civilization. Doesnt matter what a single person takes a word as, it's meant to be offensive and two wrongs dont make a right. Even if one has less of a history.
My great-grandmother was a slave in Georgia, and the other half is white. Should i take offense to the "N" word as well?
I really wonder how much time we spend worrying about words and other races of people. I know i'm too busy to.

How is calling White people "cracker" a metaphor? And how does calling Blacks the N-word remind them of slavery since not one of them alive today experienced slavery in America, at least?
Both words are examples of racism and it seems that you are more racist than you realize if you think calling a White person a "cracker" is a metaphor!

It doesn't matter because both terms are meant to desecrate the other so they are both just as bad. Whatever I believe in freedom of speech. If you have something too say than just say it. They are both equally racist terms, accept that. Go ahead so those words just know that there might be consequences from different people like getting stuck in the face. Neither is more wrong then the other.

I really don't know how a black person could be offended by being called a niger or a white person being called a cracker. But I think that eathier is bad. Furthermore black people call each other nigers all the time and I think that it's really sad. Being black or white neither makes you better or worse.

I agree with you 100%. When will our society ever get out of doing this?? I would think we, as a society, will get out of calling each other anything when we start teaching our children diversity is great. For example... white and black people have some great cultural/racial traditions. Why not learn about each other??

I agree. So why don't we just get rid of all racial slurs and just get along. I actually looked up racial slurs online once and was amazed at what seemingly innocent words can be turn into racial slurs. I guess if we got rid of racial slurs, then would wouldn't be able to talk to one another lol.

i'd hardly call the word cracker as insulting. we all know what a n is..we don't know exactly what a cracker is....what ..white like a cracker? that's insulting? please.
fact is most people of color..the brotha's and sista's and mexicans of this world..they don't spend their time trying to make up words for crackers.
thats how litte we think of them.
mean while the crackers out there are so paranoid of people of color-they have to make up names. its like the big bully from up the block who really likes that girl..but bullies her to get her attention.
