there's no telling when they try to legislate morals. if it s your flag you should be able to burn honorably, or in an act of hate. Because its your personal property.I hope they never pass a law that says we don't have the right to burn a peice of our own property if it doesn't hurt anyone else.

Actually to properly dispose of the American Flag, you are supposed to take it your American Legion Post location to dispose of flags that are beyond their use. But since locations are hard to find, and many times, they do not know how to do it correctly, you should dispose of it yourself, in a respectful and dignified manner.

According to:
http://www.usa-flag-site.org/etiquette.shtml

Throwing it in a garbage can and starting a fire is not respectful in the least.

The best you can do is to see if your local organization of the:
Girl Scouts of America
Boy Scouts of America
Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)
The American Legion
ANY MILITARY INSTALATION

Are able to take care of disposing of the flag for you.

You can also contact flagkeepers.org and they will supply you with an address to mail your flag to for disposal.

Turn it over to the Boy Scouts. They have a flag burning ceremony.(Where they burn flags that are no longer proper to display)

The law would ban it in protest, not respectful burnings. There is a proper ceremony to follow when burning respectfully, it would not be illegal to do it in this way

Man, you just about had me going for a second! Don't DO that!

No, it won't be illegal to burn a flag that's become ragged and torn. You have nothing to worry about.
