If all of the other fish are doing fine then I'd have to contribute it to aggression.
These fish are very aggressive and territorial and tankmates should be added with knowledge and consideration. Many of these cichlids are incompatible and many should be kept in groups. There should also be many hiding spots and a decent sized tank - 40 gallons or more for most species.
check out http://www.cichlid-forum, there's plenty of information and people that can help you out with your tank.

It depends.
If you have other african cichlids, aggressive ones usually pursue the weaker ones to one of the top corners of the tank (it's kind of a safety zone). If your yellow cichlid is a female and mouthbrooding fry, then that could also be a reason, since they can become reclusive for those several weeks of mouthbrooding (hanging around the top of the tank is a way for african cichlids to remain inconspicuous).
However, if none of those scenarios apply to your situation, it might be a health or water quality issue.

the lady contained in the puppy keep does no longer comprehend what she's speaking about and that i believe that the water from which they were offered replaced into no longer good and he or she offered you ill fish. were they fancy guppies fancy type or endlers and did they provide the impact of being skinny and what replaced into the temperature of their tank water. I somewhat have expertise of puppy shops of ways their are kept and a number of them are in quarantine.

move this fish to another tank, someone is picking on it and more than likely will kill it soon
all cichlids are territorial and will kill other fish, they have to be monitored constantly to see if they are getting along
