Should the American people join together and protest any attempt, by any group to, change the way we celebrate Christmas? Do you consider this a Religous issue or is it all political?

Now what concerns me is the use of the term "war" for it. This is the second time I have heard of this issue being called the "war on Christmas". The first was at my church. I think Flubya Bush started it by calling our efforts to protect our nation from terrorists a "war" on terror. He started a bad precedent. I just hope it won't be the case now that everything will turn into a war. Is the use of herbicides on a lawn the War On Weeds? Is "adopt a highway" going to be replaced by the "War on Trash"? If people start calling things wars, sooner or later a real war will result. With terror and 9/11, a war did result. Iraq.

As far as Christmas is concerned, many of the items we call "Christmas" have nothing to do with the birth of Christ. This includes Santa Claus, trees, gifts, store hours, bargains, and zillions of gaudy, energy-consuming lights out on your lawn. "Christmas" has become a term meaning a pagan celebration. For that reason, I have no objection to Christmas trees in public places, as long as they don't contain religious symbols.

I think I heard about this only once this year, it was on the materialism of Christmas. I think that no matter what people say, Christmas is going to be celebrated the way we want it whether it be the government or a religious group. I'm a Christian, but I know that the way I celebrate Christmas is my own business. Nobody is paying my bills and living my life for me so they have no say in what I do.

I celebrate christmas, and even I think christmas is a bit overextended. Everywhere I look I see a christmas tree. It doesnt bother me, but I think what it would be like if I saw jewish ornaments all over the place. And if we did, we would be furious, it wouldnt last two seconds. So I think it is a public decency issue. We should have the decency not to force ourselves on other people. But then again, that is all christians do, so never mind.

Any recognition of God is unacceptable to some people. It seems to infuriate them. I can't understand this. I have lived in Muslim countries. I have never been offended by the celebration of Islamic holidays, and I certainly am not bothered in the US when I hear about Jewish holidays.
I think that it bothers these people that we celebrate Christmas. They would like to see us keep our mouths shut and go away.
I think it is time to turn up the volume!

There is no war on Christmas. Why don't you celebrate Jesus' birthday in the month that he was born and not during the Yule Festival?

I do not celebrate Christmas..but if people want to waste their money then by all means do so. My only request is that someone somewhere come up with a new freaking Christmas song..and by this I mean *NEW* song completely. Not jingle bells by a new artist or even 14 new artists....please!!

it depends who is doing it... if businesses are... it's a business issue and has nothing to do with politics...

if government does, it's a government/political issue...

I guess it could be considered a religious issue either way though...

Christians protest more than hippies anymore... but it's America... right...

Yes, there is a case before the Supreme Court, proving it is not a trivial matter.
