I am seventeen and I am finished with high school. What is the first step I need to take toward my future dream of becoming a Radiologist? In detail please. Including the names of medical schools and colleges that are good to go to for that goal.

Your first step is to pick a four-year university with a pre-med program. Do call up and visit some practicing radiologists to find out what they do and their vision of your future in this field.

As has been said, radiologists are physicians. Each was accepted to a four-year medical school after receiving a baccalaureate degree. Following medical school each new doctor competes for a radiology residency program that will be three or four years long. Often radiologists then take a sub-specialty fellowship for another year or so.

Radiology and imaging in general are on the cutting edge of technology and medicine with no end in sight. I would recommend this career for anyone with the stamina and ability to carry on through the rigors of this field.

1) do pre-med in college. (Get VERY good grades)
2) Do well on the MCAT exam.
3) Medical School.
4) I think you have to do a one to two year general residency, then a Radiology Fellowship

The choice of college and medical School doesn't really determine the specialty you enter.
