Chanel, hands down.
BUT you can make pretty much any mascara work to your advantage by this little trick: instead of just "putting" on the mascara, curl your lashes first (clamp 'em down for five minutes close to the base). It makes a big difference, and really opens your eyes. Second, start the wand at the base of your eyelashes and make a zigzag pattern as you "put" it on. It should be a little jerky. This way you don't only get the bottom of your lashes, but the insides too and it practically rules out clumping.

Another Maybelline fan here. I use Full n' Soft Waterproof mascara. Lengthens nicely without looking fake; doesn't end up all under my eyes, and doesn't flake, which is a problem I've had with a lot of other mascara and can't deal with as I wear contact lenses.

If you are looking for the very elongating, thick, dark mascara..Loreal has this great lengthening mascara. It has the primer stuff and the actual mascara. Very good for the dramatic look.

I prefer clear gel mascara- you don't have to worry about it smearing or running or anything. The brand I have right now is Bonne Bell, but there are better brands.

Maybeline makes a great CLEAR lash mascara...I love it! Only works well if you have long lashes already.
Others make it, too, but Maybeline has the better price.
