I'm a business major, so that's my focus. Other countries have great buying power, and great business opportunities for importing and exporting even direct investment. To be successful you have to be aware of how the countries' governments operate and what their cultural practices are.

I agree with all of the above.
It makes for a well rounded person.. which many americans lack.
We are a very introverted country .. and viewed as narrow minded.
This is one thing we are criticized for.
Learning about other cultures.. you learn about yourself.. as a person.. and you learn more about your own country.

to understand and communicate better with people from all over
to discover other ways of living
to discover new customs, food, traditions...
to experience the multiplicity of people ...
to see how specific weather, economy, geography ... can shape a people
and to change yourself for the better based on this knowledge!
