Is it a good book?

Piece of cake ...
I've read it twice or was it three times i forget. It gets a little tedious in the middle and I guarantee that when you finish the book you will hate Daisy. I saw Robert Redford play Gatsby and he was very believable (they stayed very close to the book). Now think Brad Pitt to play Jay Gatsby now. ?

It's of moderate length--probably pretty short compared to most best sellers today!

I wouldn't say it's all too easy to understand, though. On the surface, yes, the story of a guy chasing a long lost love is easy enough to understand.

But, as someone else mentioned--it deals with a lot of the problems in America around the time of the Great Depression. It talks about some problems even the author struggled with--it may take a bit of knowledge about history and the author's life to fully understand the story behind the novel and all that stuff. I think, to fully get the theme, you must know about the history surrounding it as well.

The book itself is very, very depressing, but an absolutely wonderful read nonetheless.

I love classic books and this is a really good one to read. The book is written in every day words. It really held my attention well. The plot still applies to today. A lost love he never really got over and how it caused his demise. I thought it was a great book.

Its actually a pretty cool book. Its about a rich guy who throws parties in the 1930's. He falls in love with a chick and it keeps your attention. Its a little long but not too bad.

Easy read, not easy to "understand," unless you're just into plot. It was intended to be a social and psychological commentary in the devastation and emptiness left by WWI.

Not long. Yes, it is good.

Its a good read. There's a straight movie version as well with the guy from Law and Order (Ice T's partner who always gets street slang explained to him). Plus there's another movie version called G.

It's a pretty good book, it is really interesting. I don't remember how long it was, but I loved it, so I didn't even pay attention to length, so even if it's long, you might not care.

i kinda sense proud that I examine just about all of them different than the purple Badge of braveness. i think of the least complicated of those are - Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Robert Louis Stevenson - Lord of the flies, William Golding - Oliver twist by using Charles Dickens.

It is one of the greatest American novels ever written. It has a certain spark to it that Fitzgerald failed to capture in any of his other novels. I personally think he only comes close with some of his short stories.
